Internal Communications Specialist

A 12 month contract opportunity has arisen within a leading insurance firm for an experienced internal communicator.

This role will sit within the ‘agency area’ of the business and will work closely with their remote workers throughout the UK, keeping them informed with upcoming company-wide changes. The successful applicant will become the subject matter expert and will advise on IC best practice within the agency model.

They will advise on the most appropriate channels to use and will source the best content for both traditional and digital channels. A channel audit will be required to ensure the remote workforce is fully engaged and not overloaded with irrelevant information.

Excellent stakeholder management, a degree of gravitas and a solid foundation in internal communications are all required to thrive in this new role.

Key responsibilities:

Act as the subject matter expert for all communications to the agency network to ensure communications are consistent, aligned and deliver the expected business objectives.

Delivery of an agency focused internal communication service including gatekeeping and management of the approval process, making decisions about relevance of communications, advice on channel usage and influencing contributors and advisors to ensure internal communications are engaging, relevant to the agency network and effective.

Deliver the strategy and plan for ongoing agency network communication requirements, defining the governance framework and all other related activities to deliver relevant and engaging communications to our agency network.

Build effective partnerships with the rest of the internal communications team, business stakeholders, the agency audience and other departments to ensure agency considerations are at the forefront of business readiness / implementation and internal communications planning.

Develop, implement and take action from feedback mechanisms to drive continuous improvement in the service provided to internal customers in order to help them to communicate with the agency network more effectively. Monitor success of the agency specific channels and provide regular updates to key stakeholders and contributors.

Skills and Experience

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills with great attention to detail.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • The ability to engage and enthuse internal stakeholders around new ideas and ways of working.
  • Adept at building and sustaining relationships at all levels.
