Meet the Author is back, and we've gone virtual!
For this session, we'll be joined by internal communications expert, Joanna Parsons, as we delve into some thought-provoking conversations surrounding her new book 'Innovative Internal Communication'.
Should we be following best practices’ in internal communication? Is there even such a thing as ‘best’ practice in our profession? Joanna Parsons argues against best practice, and she reckons that curiosity is the antidote we need instead to drive innovation and results in our work.
Join us on Tuesday 1st October as we get curious and explore the ever evolving profession, that is internal communications.
Your Speaker
Joanna Parsons, Chief Executive Officer, The Curious Route
Joanna Parsons is an internal communications consultant, trainer and content creator who has worked in the industry for more than a decade. Her book, “Innovative Internal Communication: How Creativity, Curiosity and Technology can Create Lasting Impact” was published in August 2024 and is the exploration of a deep curiosity with the internal communication profession and our love of ‘best practice’. The book explains the limitations of applying best practices from other organisations, and encourages practitioners to instead get deeply curious about how to solve problems within their own organisation using innovation and creativity.
“Innovative Internal Communication” explains how adopting an innovation mindset and allowing yourself to be curious can improve the effectiveness of your internal communication and deliver value to your organisation. The book provides practical ways to overcome challenges to innovation in internal comms, in order to free up space for innovation and experimentation in your work. This book goes beyond the basics of best practice and onto the next level. By the end of the book, you will feel less intimidated by the idea of innovation and more emboldened to try new things. You’ll embrace your curiosity and look at your work with a new lens, asking questions and experimenting with new ideas.
