Senior Media Officer

​I’m working with a leading trade body for independent community pharmacy to help them find a Senior Media Officer. This position would be well-suited to a strong Media Relations professional, with prior experience either agency side or in house, looking to take the next step in their career in this newly created role. You will need to be on site in St Albans 2 times a week. This role is full-time and permanent.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead in the strategic planning and delivery of media and communications activities, working closely with the Head of Communications, the Director of Communications and Marketing and relevant members.

  • Deliver high quality proactive and reactive external communications across the UK, including, responding to media enquiries, preparing spokespeople for media interviews, writing attention-grabbing press releases, statements, reactive commentary and writing op-eds.

  • Present plans, research and create content, deliver multi-channel outputs and evaluate campaigns.

  • Support the Head of Communications and Director of Communications and Marketing in crisis communications responses.

  • Lead in the development and delivery of the organisation’s engagement strategy for media and communications work with community pharmacists, with the aim of maximising outreach, and delivering against impact objectives.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven success at devising and implementing proactive and reactive media stories and ideas.

  • Proven success in taking the lead responding to media enquiries about highly sensitive issues to coordinating crisis responses.

  • Experience actively working with the media in a press office or a comparative high-profile organisation.
