​An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a FTSE-listed chemicals business as Senior Content Manager. This is a critical hire for the Group Brand, Content & Channels team, responsible for the development, management and implementation of a global Brand, Content and Channels strategy and plan.

The successful candidate will likely have had a background in journalism before moving into a broader content role. A passion and understanding of scientific terminology and the net zero transition is a must and a demonstrable background in translating complex technical information into meaningful content and messaging is essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • To lead the development of the group corporate narrative, tone of voice and messaging with the wider Brand, Content & Channels team

  • Development of Group-level communications such as campaigns, editorial, storytelling, and news that bring the company’s ambition, purpose and strategy to life externally and internally

Develop a content strategy for key channels, defining:

  • the messaging which channel should promote

  • the types of content suitable

  • how content should be linked

  • content policy and guidelines

  • consistent use of content and tone of voice

  • the use of images, infographics and other visual assets

  • approvals and workflows required in content production

  • Lead the creation of an Editorial Network, working with the wider Group Corporate Affairs team and representatives from each of the businesses, functions and other parts of the business which communicate externally, including investors, customers, suppliers and media, to co-ordinate content development and publishing across the organisation

  • Lead the Editorial Network’s work in identifying what content is being planned across the business and to seek opportunities to surface stories which are good examples of the organisation’s ambition, purpose and strategy in operation

  • Manage and co-ordinate an editorial planner which feeds into the Corporate Affairs communication calendar ensuring content is scheduled to avoid conflicts and provide a coherent and well-paced flow of communication

  • Research and write news content, source and format imagery and manage the approval process

  • Publish news articles, respond to comments on news content and update sector communicators to include content in local channels

  • Prepare and deliver communication plans and materials for Group-wide announcements, including leadership moves, financial results and other RNS company announcements

  • Lead on crafting and managing quality, consistent, clear and effective content that tells the company story and its position on key issues through a wide range of channels varying tone of voice to suit the brief

  • Provide guidance on the right content and channels to meet strategic communications needs, managing projects when required

  • Participate, when required, in the company’s crisis communications procedures

  • Line management of 2 individuals

  • To take on any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
