An International Industry Association, the GCCA (Global Cement & Concrete Association) is growing its team and looking for a seasoned Head of Media (content and engagement) to help tell its positive story and important sustainability journey to the world. This is a global role reporting to the GCCA Strategy, Communications and Policy Director, with engagement with the senior leadership team.
Concrete is the most consumed material on earth after water - it is the vital building material that has shaped our modern world. As Head of Media, you will be communicating the role concrete is playing in developing sustainable and resilient communities, providing key infrastructure and homes, as well as supporting the transition to low carbon energy concrete.

Role mission:
Achieve understanding and positive media coverage across global, tier one, sustainability and environmental, and built environment media to help enhance the perception of cement and concrete, the industry, and the GCCA
Leverage key opportunities and create new ones, to deliver compelling content
Establish grow and manage key media contacts and relationships
Main responsibilities:
Develop and implement a media strategy to increase media reach, awareness and engagement
Produce written press statements and press releases, op-eds, blogs for publication
Produce briefing material (media Q&A, talking points, profiles) ahead of print or broadcast interviews
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key global & sector journalists
Be the first port of call for global, national and specialist media enquires
Manage pr/media agencies as required
Maintain strong working relationships with counterparts at key stakeholder organisations, including members
Lead on crisis communications with Communications Director
Set measurable goals for media engagement and track progress
Ensure effective monitoring is in place and ensure follow-ups, briefings, rebuttals, engagement as required
Skills and experience required:
Seasoned media relationship specialist with experience gained in house and or agency environment
Experience working on high-profile issues essential
Global experience highly desirable
Experience in sustainability/climate agenda, built environment, industry desirable
Proven ability to build relationships and networks quickly
Experience of translating complex subject matter into engaging content
Excellent written and verbal communications skills with strong attention to detail
