A leading law firm is looking to hire a Global Lead External Communications based at its London office. The role reports to the Global Head of Communications and oversees a four person team. Key stakeholders include MBD (Marketing & Business Development) leadership team and other communications leads, and the role is a member of a global communications leadership team. Additional stakeholders include the senior management team, practice and sector group leaders, office managing partners, the firm’s General Counsel, and heads of functions including HR, technology and operations.

You will be responsible for:

The day to day press office management including outbound disclosures and inbound inquiries

Proactively positioning the firm’s partners and others as authoritative sources

Managing opportunities for profile, prioritising opportunities to highlight the Firm’s strategy and growth areas

Proactively positioning thought leadership.

Issues management

Coaching, training and advising on media activity and performance;

Ensure that media activity has a strong digital and social component, and manage brand “listening” in social channels

Manage measurement of media impact

Oversee the process for submissions to legal directories.

While it is important the successful candidate has strong executive and media experience, this role is more focused on collaborative relationships and strong leadership abilities, a person who is able to influence and give directions. You will need to be used to working in a matrix organisation (ideally with the Professional Services/Legal/Financial Services sectors) and who has international experience. You will enjoy handling media relations and comfortable being hands-on when needed. Foreign languages are an advantage but not essential.
