For our client ING Belgium we are looking for a Communications Manager - Area Lead Communications.

Your job as a Communications Manager - Area Lead Communications

Your purpose is to deliver support the implementation of the internal and external communication strategy to build and maintain ING Belgium’s reputation with the different stakeholders. You are responsible for and/or involved in translating the organization's strategy and priorities into global communication plans, advising the board and the business, identifying key information, managing strategic (change) projects and ensuring the right channels are in place, to support the achievement of ING Belgium's strategic objectives.

You lead a team of highly competent communications experts with different areas of expertise (Media Relations, External Comms, Internal Comms, Leadership branding, Internal activation, Employee engagement).

As an Area Lead Communications, you will also need:

  • University / Post Graduate (Masters Degree).

  • Substantial general work experience together with comprehensive job-related experience in own area of expertise to fully competent level. (Over 10 years).

  • Solid understanding in Communication and Marketing in a service or banking environment.

  • Sound experience in execution of strategic projects is a strong asset.

  • Experience in preparing management information and presentations.

  • Can do mentality combined with a natural stakeholder management reflex.

  • To work both independent and as a team member. You need to be able to manage your own work and set your own priorities.

  • Strong analytical skills and execution capabilities.

  • Ability to take responsibility, steer strategy and realisations based on facts and data;

  • Strong resilience; ability to navigate through ambiguity and complexity.

  • High level of confidentiality where needed.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English, Dutch and French.

As an Area Communications Lead, you will have the opportunity to:

Communications

  • Develop and/or deliver a plan for significant aspects of external/internal communications with guidance from senior colleagues.

  • Manage relationships with internal clients and act as a business partner to them, building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust, and managing the deployment of appropriate internal and/or external resources to support in delivering business strategy and plans.

  • Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving complex or contentious queries and issues and enabling others to take appropriate actions.

Stakeholder management

  • Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.

  • Develop stakeholder engagement through identifying stakeholders, finding out their needs/issues/concerns and reacting to these to support the communication of business information and decisions.

  • Develop and improve relationships with Board members, identifying priorities, issues and strategic challenges and preparing them for discussion. Work is focused on a significant function or equivalent area of the business.

Management

  • Manage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold them accountable for achieving these; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.

  • Develop and/or deliver elements of a strategic planning system with guidance from senior colleagues.

  • Build strong-identity teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals. For example, provide rich and targeted insight on establishing strong teams with the right mix of abilities and perspectives. Convey team members' roles and goals in a compelling way that builds excitement.
