​A leading utility company is looking for an experienced Senior Media Relations Manager to join their team to support key business areas, including significant projects working with stakeholders promoting the company’s reputation to external audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a source of professional expertise providing media advice to stakeholders and business areas within the business

• Act as a company spokesperson and communicate the key messages around the company’s strategy

• Manage day to day enquiries from the media relating to specific business areas and work on proactive projects, research and campaigns to enhance the reputation of the business

• Identify, escalate and mitigate emerging risks as appropriate to protect the reputation and interests of the business and colleagues

• Build and manage relations with media, journalists and other key industry contacts

Key Skills Required

• Developed understanding of media relations, preferably with experience of working in a highly regulated sector, gained either in-house or in agency

• Good media connections would be advantageous but not essential

• Experience in creating briefs and setting up interviews

• Experience in managing internal and external stakeholders

• Demonstrable experience in projects that have succeeded in brand promotion and identity enhancement

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
