In more recent times, social mobility and socio-economic diversity has been at the forefront of this. Employers can, and should, be doing more to help people from all backgrounds succeed in the workplace.
At our D&I Forum: Social Mobility, we were joined by three brilliant speakers, all experts in their field, who discussed the importance of socio-economic diversity:
Alexandra Sufit, Former Head of Employer Communications at the Social Mobility Commission
Alex recently completed a year long project for the Social Mobility Commission (central government), working with their commissioners and senior business leaders to drive socio-economic diversity across the UK workforce. She is also actively involved in gender equality campaigning.
Tom Goddard, Head of Communications at KPMG
Tom is responsible for external, internal and strategic communications for KPMG - the first business in the UK to publish comprehensive data on the socio-economic background of its workforce in 2016 and since then has been consistently recognised as one of the leading employers on the Social Mobility Employer Index.
Mona Vadher, Senior Policy and Programme Manager of the Socio-Economic Mobility Taskforce
Mona is an experienced programme and policy manager and consultant, who’s experience centres around social impact and boosting social mobility and employability prospects. Currently, she manages a Government commissioned taskforce, which seeks to boost and improve socio-economic diversity at senior levels within UK Financial and Professional Services.
