Is OCD in us all?! Or is it simply ones preference for certain things to be in a particular way? We may or may not notice this around us but based on my assumptions in that matter we are just creatures of habits… so what is your opinion?
I joined VMA in January 2013 and was welcomed into a dynamic, warm and friendly organisation of course not forgetting in particular the finance team! In addition to our daily routine and the periodical tasks, we’ve managed to maintain our love affair with chocolates, crisps, biscuits and cakes (well food generally) to keep us going.
Month-end tasks are my responsibilities, from reconciliation to management accounts. Monday blues are the weekly Financial Company meeting slides ready to see the excitement in all our faces. By 07:30 I am in the office covering Asia Pacific for our Hong Kong & Singapore offices, since then I’m as much part of both the UK team and Asia Pacific team. Basically, I’m juggling between the two corridors thus, connecting “East and West” as the first point of contact.
Since I started my career in finance, I’ve frequently exposed my experience in the UK (naturally) and various countries out there. However, you do always learn something new when dealing with different countries with regards to their rules and regulations and these things are continuously evolving as we speak. Dealing with Asian companies & authorities, I can safely say it is a different “kettle of fish” as official working papers and company stamp (or chopped as they called it) is a MUST have accessory to get most things moving, if you like. We thought dealing with HMRC is hard, try them… even HMRC is now accepting drop box electronically nowadays.
