Policy Lead (12-month interim)

​In this cracking 12-month interim role, you’ll be responsible for the development of Government policy priorities at one of the world’s biggest & busiest airports and will lead engagement with key intra-departmental civil servants.

You will own relationships critical to building understanding and support for the airport’s policy asks and therefore will need a genuinely credible and authoritative voice, as well as the ability to function as a source of expertise for wider communications advice from right across the airport community. Operating within the External Relations function, you’ll work with multiple colleagues to support proactive media & communications campaigns and will also sit on the airport’s on-call Incident Response Team.

Ideally, this role would suit a savvy practitioner with policy development or civil service experience while some exposure to the transport or aviation sectors would also be an asset. Reporting to the Head of Public Affairs & Policy and with 2x direct reports, you’ll be a skilled, confident advocate in a wide range of busy and demanding environments and equipped to champion core business priorities and key policy asks. Naturally, you’ll possess a particularly calm head under pressure and will be comfortable in prioritising issues while juggling competing demands.

Combining first-rate written & oral communication skills with a level of comfort in the wider political landscape, you’ll know exactly how to distil occasionally complex or technical information into clear asks of Government and be able to build effective, sustainable relationships with a broad spectrum of internal & external stakeholders.
