​Exciting opportunity for a Comms Manager to lead on the planning and delivery of external communications for an organisation in the rail industry.

You will be delivering the communications strategy and senior internal engagement in a complex, multi stakeholder environment. As required you will also act as deputy head of communications.

Role responsibilities:

• Lead on planning and delivery of all external communications, across media, speaking opportunities, awards, social media and elements of stakeholder communication.

• Work closely with internal functions including internal communications, local government, community and customer communication.

• Work with communications counterparts with external stakeholder organisations.

• Issues/crisis communications – planning and reactive communications.

• Devise, deliver and develop content and creative assets such as photography, video, case studies, factsheets and other relevant materials.

• Manage the brand, narrative and assets.

• Represent the company where necessary in external settings.

Key skills:

• Proven experience in external communications, specifically media relations and issues/crisis comms.

• Knowledge of internal communications is desirable.

• Good communications skills both verbally and written – strong writing skills required.

• Strong stakeholder management/influencer skills.

• Ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Confidence in dealing with uncertainty and ambiguity in a constantly changing and challenging environment.

• Experience in the transportation sector would be helpful, but not mandatory.
