Chair of VMAGROUP Julia is passionate about stakeholder communications and developing the vital role of corporate communications as the custodian of an organisation’s corporate reputation. She regularly comments on all aspects of leadership communications and the role of communications in business transformation, in particular relating to employee engagement and managing corporate reputations. Julia is also an executive coach specialising in helping communications leaders increase their impact and influence at board level by helping them transition from trusted adviser and expert to transformational business leader. She champions the progression of women into senior executive roles and chairs VMAGROUP’s advisory boards across Europe.
Chief Executive Andrew worked as a communications professional in the financial services sector before embarking on a career in recruitment. Since 2005 Andrew has specialised in recruiting communication and marketing professionals into organisations across the Private, Public and Not for Profit sectors. Andrew joined VMAGROUP in 2013 and moved into the position of CEO in 2019. Andrew is responsible for managing and growing VMAGROUP on an international basis.
Willem de Ruijter
Executive Director, Europe A former fast moving consumer goods marketing and communications director, Willem has worked in recruitment since 2008 and headed a Netherlands based firm specialising in recruitment and headhunting of communications, marketing and sales professionals. Willem joined VMAGROUP in 2012 and now is executive director, heading up operations in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg and some other European markets, the Middle East and Africa. He focusses on senior level communication and marketing appointments.
Executive Director, Finance and Operations Amy began her career at EY in Cambridge as part of their external audit team working across a variety of companies varying from large US corporations to small research and tech companies. She previously worked for James Grant Group, a London based media management agency focused on the Entertainment, Sport and Music industries, starting as a Finance Manager and worked her way up to become Finance Director. She joined VMAGROUP in late 2018 as Head of Finance and was subsequently admitted to the Board of Directors in the role of Executive Director – Finance & Operations in 2019. As part of this role she manages all operational matters for the business including Finance, HR, IT and Marketing.
Executive Director, Marketing and Communications Lucy worked at Condé Nast Publications for six years before moving into recruitment in 2005. Lucy specialised in corporate communications and PR at two recruitment agencies before joining VMAGROUP in 2008 as a consultant within the corporate communications practice. In 2013, Lucy broadened her experience on the operational side of the business, developing her skills and understanding of commercial organisational structure and strategic people planning and now as Executive Director she is responsible for the group's permanent recruitment within communications and marketing.
