What’s BIGGER than the BAFTAs…?
More audacious than the Oscars…? VMA Group’s annual IC Showcase!
Well, after celebrating the phenomenal British success at the BAFTAs, and then watching in wonder as it continued across the Atlantic at the recent Oscars, it’s now the turn of the internal communications industry, as we look towards this year’s IC Showcase, brought to you by VMA Group.
For those of you who have yet to attend, our IC Showcase, now in its fifth year, is the industry’s only peer-to-peer, best practice sharing event and it’s open to Internal Communications teams of all shapes and sizes.
The idea is simple: as a team, you come together and decide on the IC initiative, that you’ve delivered in the previous year, of which you are most proud.
You then put together a succinct and engaging 10-minute presentation outlining the key elements, really showcasing the work that you carried out and the positive impact that it had on your audience and organisation.
The execution, however, is everything; having presented and seen your peers present, you will then, as a team, vote on the best initiative.
We go on to enjoy networking drinks and a celebratory dinner, announce the winners and present the awards…
So, IC Showcase gives your whole team the opportunity to swap tips with other IC professionals and return to the office with fresh, new ideas that could work for you.
Our 2013 IC Showcase saw a truly diverse mix of teams join us at the Montcalm Hotel (a striking venue located in central London, with exceptional service and phenomenal food): EY, HSBC, Tullow Oil, Siemens, Tui Travel, Telefonica O2, British Gas, Post Office, Unilever, RBS and John Lewis.
Sam Bleazard, Senior Communications Manager at John Lewis, commented: “These events are actually a lot of fun, there was a lot of humour in the room, lots of very engaging presenters. We learned a lot, and are going to take away a lot of quite interesting tools and techniques.”
British Gas won the Award for best initiative / presentation on the night. The team showcased an amazing ‘Extraordinary You’ campaign and it was a fantastic way to show how much a business can gain by investing a bit of time and care into their frontline employees.
Post Office and HSBC were voted in second and third place respectively.
David Broome, Director of VMA Group’s Executive Search practice, commented on the night: “The IC Showcase has gone from strength to strength over the last four years and our hearty congratulations go to this year’s winners. All eleven teams presented work of the highest quality, and it’s really the knowledge-sharing and broader recognition of great work that makes this such a special event for everyone who takes part.
