VMA Group’s IC Showcase 2013: The inside track
Virgin Media offering their engineers the chance to “Pimp My Ride”; the story of the biggest-ever UK bank integration between Lloyds TSB and HBOS; the creation of employee ‘Superfans’ at O2; and the launch of a ‘Retail Revolution’ at John Lewis are just some of the highlights of VMA Group’s IC Showcase over the past few years.
The IC Showcase is now a firm fixture in the VMA Group’s calendar, and the fourth annual event takes place in September this year. We’re hoping for a broad spread of teams, reflecting the diversity of previous years which has seen everyone from the big banks to charities, travel companies, FMCG and utilities companies taking part.
We originally came up with the idea of the IC Showcase to offer internal communicators a low-cost, manageable and supportive event, which they could take part in and enjoy with the rest of their team – in contrast to some of the more established IC and engagement conferences and events on the circuit.
The IC Showcase is the industry’s only peer-to-peer, best practice sharing event and it’s open to Internal Communications teams of all shapes and sizes. It gives each participating team the chance to present their biggest success story from the last 12 months, as well as network and swap tactics with other IC professionals over drinks and a celebratory dinner. And, at the end of the night we celebrate the best presentations with our unique, peer-voted awards, as well as recognising the collective efforts of all of our attendees.
As a member of VMA Group’s Internal Communications practice I’ve been impressed and humbled by the creativity, innovation and commitment demonstrated by our Showcase teams at past events. It gives me an invaluable insight into where IC is now, what it can achieve in organisations, and what’s new.
This year we will be hosting our IC Showcase event at The Brewery in the Montcalm London City Hotel on Thursday 5 September. We’d love you to join us, so please do register your team (there is an early bird discount until the end of May) or to find out more email me at email@example.com
