VMA Group Highly Appreciated as a Major Sponsor of ECS14
For the 8th time the European Association of Communications Directors (EACD) organised their annual conference in Brussels. In the largest event yet, more than 700 senior communications professionals from all over Europe attended and participated in plenary sessions, workshops and break-out sessions. VMA Group gladly sponsored this major event which was two full days of serious discussions and a bit of fun as well.
The event offered great opportunity to refresh older contacts and make new ones, with both candidates and clients alike. VMA group did this by conducting a workshop on our Business Leaders in Communications Survey (BLCS 2014/15), and also sponsored the EACD Speed Networking events at the Summit and had a centrally located stand were we could receive the delegates.
‘Social’ and ‘Digital’ still proved to the major theme throughout the event and both the case studies and discussions at The European Communications Summit 14 (ECS14) showed that the communications profession has long left behind its initial ‘cold feet’ reaction. On the first day of ECS14, I also presented the findings of VMA Group’s flagship piece of research, BLCS 2014/15 to a room full of communications directors. In the large majority of organisations, the central communication teams now have direct ownership of social media activity, and it is expected that a large proportion of communications budget increases will be spend on social media. The most important challenges facing the communications profession, again as demonstrated by the BLCS, will be the ‘number and complexity of key audiences‘, ‘keeping up with rapid evolution of social media techniques’ and ‘ the impact of media reporting on managing reputation’.
All these themes logically influenced many of the discussions, and the VMA Group consultants present took the opportunity to discuss these with attendees. Again, it was
an extremely interesting international mix of communications professionals attending the Summit – from Liechtenstein and Ireland to Spain, Latvia and Finland.
As a global business, VMA Group is fully at home at international events such as ECS14. All in all, the event was a resounding success, proving once again that we understand the communications profession, can operate on a global level, and know both the relevant companies and clients.
We will be back in 2015!!
