Recruitment activity in the first quarter of 2012 was more positive than expected and we saw a surge in mid-level appointments between £38k and £65k. This sudden up-turn and sense of optimism continued throughout most of the quarter and we saw an increase in briefs coming from sectors affected by the recession and government cuts, particularly the charity and the public sector.
