​An exciting opportunity has arisen for a high-performing Corporate Communications professional to join this FTSE-listed organisation at the heart of the energy industry. The ideal candidate will be an expert media handler, adept at hunting out great stories, comfortable liaising directly with trade, national and broadcast journalists and come with a good grasp of financial PR.

You’ll ideally have both agency and in-house experience and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Energy experience isn’t essential, but a broad understanding of the big issues and a passion for the sector certainly is!

  • Execution of Corporate Communications strategy, working closely with Brand and Public Affairs colleagues.

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of external comms strategy (media and social).

  • Development and execution of proactive media relations strategy, ensuring all business entities are supporting company messages.

  • Develop and manage strong relationships with key journalists and editors.

  • Corporate/plc external comms.

  • Securing speaking opportunities.

  • Crisis comms and reputation issues including participation in the 24/7 duty press officer rota.

  • Managing the external communications ‘grid’ for Corporate Affairs, working with other parts of the business to ensure communications meet the organisation’s strategic goals and maximise key messages.

  • Ensure senior leaders are briefed before all major media appearances with key messages.

  • Provide support on corporate media relations, including full and half-year results and annual report, working closely with the Investor Relations team.

  • Manage and co-ordinate specialist media and communications consultancies, and provide advice and counsel to UK/US media teams, to ensure cost-effective, aligned, best-practice media relations delivery.

  • Ensure media monitoring is accurate, in line with best-practice and provides accurate measurement on how the organisation is communicating on priority areas.

  • Drive consistency of communications produced by the Corporate Communication team and ensure coordination of message delivery across Corporate Affairs.

  • Manage daily press reporting for the group.

  • Manage monthly internal reporting for the team.
