VMA Group are always the first to celebrate the best in communications talent, and last Thursday we hosted our ‘Rising Stars’ awards night here at our head office in Bedford square, London.
The night was a fantastic opportunity to bring together and an exciting mix of communications talent across a range of practices – Internal Communications, Marketing, Digital and Agency – and award prizes for those who really impressed us and our guest judges with their campaigns, strategies and comms delivery.
There were lots of celebrations during the night, and we’re very proud of our winners and nominees:
Internal Communications Rising Stars:
Katie Stray, Internal Communications Officer, Housing 21
Victoria Stuart Communications Manager, Serco Docklands
“Katie and Victoria’s entries were both so compelling we genuinely could not choose between them”, Michelle Morgan, Senior Consultant, Internal Communications Practice, VMA Group.
Marketing Rising Star:
Gareth Groarke, Senior Marketing Manager, RNIB
“Flexible, positive, strategic, creative, consultative, cooperative and results-focused. Gareth’s entry really astounded the judges.” John Harte, Marketing Communications Consultant, VMA Group.
Digital Rising Star:
Richard Atkinson, Senior Web Relations Manager, Barclaycard
“Richard has radically improved Barclaycard’s customer service model through engaging the online community around the brand”, Darren Caveney, Comms2Point0 and Rising Stars judge.
Agency Communications Rising Star:
Lucy Miles, Account Director, Pelham Bell Pottinger
“A real expert who has established a vast array on contacts in a short space of time”, Nicky Young, Director at Salt and Rising Star judge.
Each of our Rising Stars received £100 prize, a place on a VMA Enhance communications training course of their choice, and a shining star named after them, presented with a personalised star chart and presentation case. Indeed Gareth Groarke, VMA Group’s 2013 Marketing Rising Star, was very impressed, calling the star, “Probably one the coolest awards you can ever get… It’s absolutely brilliant!”. Well deserved Gareth!
And after such a fun night, we’re already planning an expanded event for 2014 that will involve even more of the key communications disciplines across the industry.
More details can be found on our website, and we’ll soon be releasing hints about how to become more recognised and successful in their careers. Be sure to follow us on Twitter for further insights too!
A big thanks for everyone that made the night such a success. Roll on 2014!
